Intarsia - A decorative mosaic made from wood.

This art form has its beginning in Italy before Columbus sailed for the New World. Each piece is individually crafted and then fitted creating a wood mosaic in the finished design. The pieces are cut and shaped from different species of wood to achieve a 3-dimensional look without the use of stains or dyes.
